How the math works

Line 9 = business miles × standard rate + business parking and tolls. Example: 252.6 miles × $0.76 + $20 parking = $211.98. Business-use % = business miles ÷ total miles: 252.6 ÷ 1,250 = 20.2%. Medical (23.5¢) and charitable (14¢) miles only help if you itemize.

What is the IRS mileage rate for 2027?

The IRS usually publishes it in December. Until then this calculator uses 76¢, the latest published business rate (IRS Announcement 2026-11).

Do commuting miles count?

No. Driving from home to a regular workplace is commuting. Trips between work locations, to clients or to the post office for the business count.

What records do I need?

A log made at or near the time of each trip: date, destination, business purpose and miles.
